If big desktop vaporizers seem intimidating, you aren’t alone. A lot of the more expensive models have huge control panels and look like you are driving an airplane rather than firing up a desktop vaporizer. That’s why I love the Hot Box. It’s simple and intuitive with only one switch to turn it on and off. This is also one of the least expensive units on the market today so it is perfect for beginners that aren’t ready to invest a ton of money in a desktop model.

Even with the lower price tag, you get good performance from the Hot Box. Not only is it extremely user friendly, but it also has a trendy feel. It is made with a sturdy design and includes a chrome heating component to give you a cleaner taste. I also like the two-piece whip design. It is easy to keep clean and intuitive to use even if it’s your first time vaping with the whip. Hot Box has a long standing reputation for designing quality vaping units and the new whip-style vaporizer continues in that trends.

There are a few downsides to this unit, but most of them are pretty typical considering the low price. For one thing, it takes about ten minutes to heat up. While this isn’t a deal breaker by any stretch, it’s not as convenient as some of the high end models that can heat up in seconds flat. I was also a little concerned that the whip felt pretty rigid and stiff. While it hasn’t caused any performance issues for me, it doesn’t feel as comfortable as some other whips I have used in the past.

While I really love the simplicity of a one dial design, I found it problematic that there is no thermostat and you can’t control the temperature. This gives you less room to customize your vaping and I also found the casing sometimes gets really hot to the touch after I’ve been using it for a while.

Ultimately, I definitely think the Hot Box Whip-Style vaporizer is a winning choice for newbies that want to experiment with a low-priced desktop model. While you won’t get the same customization and quality performance that you get from a Volcano, you still get a satisfying vape even on a much smaller budget.
